Pulse Oximeter

Recommended Posts

As some of you may know my son has spent plenty of time in hospital, usually hooked up to a Pule Oximeter - a device that measures O2 levels and Pulse. Scott Harden has managed to hack one together using a LED, a photo transistor, a LM324 quad op amp and a clothes-peg, which then uses a sound card input for analysis

This is is quite an achievement considering that real-world units start at over two hundred dollars for *just the sensor*!

It would be really neat to create an FPGA based Oximeter with a VGA display... maybe using a hacked up differential ADC for the input. Or maybe using the ADCs on the pcDuino,,,
