Guest Tarmo
Hi, I have a question about using Papilio Loader app with other packages. Namely in my design I would like to use Spartan3E XC3S500E-4PQG208I. As the Papilio board uses the same device but in a 100 pin TQFP package I would like to know if Papilio Loader would be able to program it? The only difference between the two is I/O pin count. They both have the same IDCode, but I expect that the BSDL files will be different.
ben
Although I'm not an expert, I'd say the papilio-loader application has more to do with the RS232 interface of the Papilio board than with a specific Xilinx device. So the answer would be yes and no: yes if your board has a similar FTDI interface with a different Xilinx chip, no if it doesn't.
Guest Tarmo
Forgot to mention that I will use the same FT2232 JTAG interface that the Papilio board uses.
Jack Gassett
Hello Tarmo, Yes, the papilio loader will be able to program your board. The Papilio loader is a fork of the xc3sprog project and you can find better documentation about adding your own bsdl file there. We do intend to merge back into the xc3sprog project soon, we just need to clean up the SST SPI Flash chip code first. Jack.
