Arduino Shields

Hi, there was a reference in the diagram portion of the hardware page to using Arduino Shields with the Papilio.

Is this a simple plug-and-play solution to adding functionality to the papilio?

If not, I'd like to be able to use the Ethernet shield with the papilio. Do you imagine it would be difficult to setup on it?

Lastly, I saw that UART communication can be implemented as per your helpful video tutorials. I was wondering if this solution would allow for simple communication between an arduino and the papilio directly?

Thanks, the papilio looks like a great platform, and I hope to purchase one in the near future.

Hello Schillie,

There was an early prototype called the "Papilio Uno" that was meant to use Arduino Shields. That design never made it out of the prototype phase but there is a big push going on right now to make a really nice FPGA Shield for the Arduino. I'm running a Kickstarter project and it will be a really nice board with SRAM and Arduino compatibility.
